Al's First Cruise (as told by Sandy)

Way back in 1991, believe it or not, I really was not the least bit interested in cruising. It was like pulling teeth for Sandy to get me onboard, but I finally spread my wings and went on my first cruise.

Our travel agent advised us to buy the best cabin we could afford. Ours was a deluxe oceanview stateroom. Our alarm clock was the morning light. As soon as the sun was up, we were up walking on the Promenade with our fellow passengers. Verandas must have been new in the industry; our ship did not have any.

What an eye opening experience! I was hooked! It was ten days of bliss on the beautiful Mexican Rivera. I found out I could eat anything I wanted, all I wanted, anytime I wanted, and the food was great! One night they had a barbeque on the open deck. We had steaks and baked potatoes with all the trimmings. After that, we went to our late night seating for dinner in the dinning room. What a night! I was in heaven!

Returning home, we could hardly wait to book our second cruise. Now we were pros!

Ever since that first time, I have a hard time spending a vacation that does not involve a cruise.
